Wow, Sunday’s church guest speaker, Ralph Winter, producer of BLOCKBUSTER CLASSICS like,
Planet of the Apes, Fantastic 4, X-Men, Hackers, Inspector Gadget, Star Trek III-IV-V-VI, Mighty Joe Young- the list goes on….
That is his job, producing but not the MAN, so to speak. What I found so profound about his message ‘WHY STORY IS IMPORTANT’ is and has been what brings people together and being able to share from the beginning, middle and end, our own stories. I know we all know this but the way he spoke about his story, choices, challenges about his work and family were so inspiring,
Remembering a ‘LIFE CHANGING’ offer and wanting, running to grab it, say YES it was one of the most important CHOICES and MOVIES (for him at that time) and could of made him a ba-ga- zillionair! Providing even more for his family, more recognition and a “BOND” film to boot, movie making was and is his job, and his family were the loves of his life. God was right there for him and realizing that the offer was great, turned it down and in his story everyone in the sanctuary “GOT IT” we have all been there at one time or another and had compassion for not only his story but our own.
Ralph told us that for 6 months he had NO work, NO calls NADA, – wondering and praying did he do the right thing? What if he didn’t get work again? How could he provide for his family.. “God, what, why was this happening?”
Ralph finished with the choice of being with his wife and family and staying close to home in the San Fernando Valley, WATCHING his kids grow as apposed to HEARING about their achievements at school, sports and otherwise, that was the right thing to do. He did this until his kids graduated he and his wife’s prayers worked God gave them both, work close to home, how about the city they lived in AND he still made some of the most amazing BLOCKBUSTER HITS listed below. So today he has to be grateful for the most important thing (WE) have in life is FAMILY!
