Being seen, the scene, the BIG SCREEN- “ACADEMY AWARD NIGHT” is all that and more. I was loving it this year, movie makers and fans alike, honoring how far the industry has come with silent film “The Artist”, a sneak peak at the real Marilyn in “My Week with Marilyn,” even “The Muppet Movie” The Muppet or the Man won best song. “The Help” a story about OUR history in the United States and was not that long ago. I can hardly wrap my head around how it must of been back then? I was born in 1962 and I grew up in South Florida went to public schools and had just as many black friends as I did white and as many white teachers as I did black. That movie made me sad, glad – it made me feel proud and strong on how it has changed and the people who helped open our eyes. I think that being reminded once again that the truth in LIFE IS taking chances of what we are afraid of and believe in at every turn, time and chance we get. Just as MLK did and the brave women in “the help” did. Take them, the chances the flying leap of faith at the very least we fail but at least we tried- that is what I heard many of the nominees/presenters speak about in their acceptance speeches.
That’s what God wants us to do too and He’s got our back.
Another refreshing thing I found was how the Academy recognized the young ladies and men who have worked a long time for these kind of roles giving us performances that shined so beautifully (hopefully as the writer had wanted them to). The speeches were fresh, humble and sweet even Meryl Streep, not exactly the new girl on the scene was, as always, humble, truly surprised with all that competition – so happy she won and this time got to thank her wonderful husband before the music could drown him out. True love or what?
I am no expert on Award Shows-but I always love Billy Crystal’s playful and sweet performances, he’s got the dance, the singing and the laughter all figured out without hurting anyone’s feelings- Go Billy Crystal.
Hoping you enjoyed them as much as I did. Hollywood is a place where these days movie stars, musicians, models, sports phenomenas are what our children and others all over want to be like them, us- we are all the same and if it is Hollywood that so many are looking up to. Let it be because we are setting the best example by how we live, talk and the things that are important in our lives- it is only by example that we can teach and help others to learn that what we say we do-
If it’s the City of Angels setting the mood of our country let Hollywood be Holywood and keep the blessings coming and then sharing them with the less fortunate.
Love Always, Always Love,
